It has been another sunny day but temperatures were low with a strong westerly wind. Ben set off to do some fishing from the pontoon on the Atlantic Inter-island Waterway. He did not last long as there was a strong wind into his face and the pontoon was rocking in the waves! Liz went for a long walk on the beach followed by a bit of grocery shopping (pattern emerging here!). We had a light bite in the condo for lunch and then went out to explore the northeast of the Island. We ended up on Folly Fields Beach (pictured). We cannot fault the magnificent Atlantic beaches with miles of sand. This beach is well known for green turtle breeding and there were lots of restrictions to ensure the turtle nests were not disturbed. Whilst we did not see any turtles there were a few pelicans diving for fish. Following a drive around the north east area (where there are a lot of gated communities you cannot get into) we returned for pre-dinner drinks! ...

A 2- day report. On Thursday we headed over to the Palermo Vacations office to formally withdraw from the time share points proposal (we had also received a text from Brook that morning advising she had got us a package with thousands of points for the original price). We expected some hassle but in the event the process was very professional and having explained that the information we had been given at the presentation was wrong we were immediately reimbursed our deposit. The fairway was just to the left of this lake We did some mooching and shopping including new golf shoes for Liz and a fishing licence and some tackle bits and pieces for Ben. In the evening we went for a walk on the beach before eating in. Friday morning was sunny but cold and we had to wrap up for golf at the Shipyard complex relatively close to our condo. There were a lot of very nice houses tucked away alongside fairways - this view was one of the few without housing. Alligator...

Wednesday's report. Yesterday we attended a timeshare briefing to take advantage of free/discounted golf offers. At the presentation we were offered a very good deal with unlimited free golf and outstanding accommodation in perpetuity - we agreed to sign up for it as there was a 5-day grace period to change your mind (I would not recommend doing this). We then had the opportunity in the evening to go through the small print in peace and the offer did not stack up (what a surprise) - as part of the sign up procedure we were invited to a free breakfast gathering this morning which we attended. There we sought clarification of how the offer would work as the briefing did not stack up with the paperwork. Needless to say the organisers were very apologetic and admitted that the 'manager' of our host had 'misunderstood' our questions and that the advice he had given was wrong. They then revised their offer with more goodies to come but involving paying twice as mu...

Weather is a bit cloudy but warm. We had a lazy morning and headed over to the Golden Bear Golf Club after lunch. We were buddied up with 'Dave' from Rochester who was in Hilton head for about 4 months until the weather improved in New York State (how the other half live). We had a good round of golf - a much better start for Ben than the last time we were here - par - birdie - par - par start! It was nevertheless a close game due Liz's prowess with putting; final result Ben 35 points - Liz 32 points. We then headed off to the Fresh Market to buy some New York strip steaks for supper - they were outstanding. We are still acclimatising to the time zone change so weren't late to bed.

We had a very comfortable flight in our business class pods and were well looked after by our BA cabin crew. Immigration at Atlanta was a breeze and the changes they have made associated with the ESTA process certainly worked for us. There were quite a flew Asians queuing with many wearing face masks - sign of the times. We got a taxi to the hotel rather than transport our luggage to the domestic terminal where the hotel bus pick up is. Our hotel was nothing special but the room was comfortable. Following a good breakfast we were delivered to the hire car centre by our hotel shuttle driver whose 'handle' was 'shauffeur' (Shuttle Chauffeur) - he was highly amusing and quite prepared to deviate from his normal route. Sitting/dining room Our car is a midsized SUV Hyundai Tucson. We had a good drive from Atlanta to Hilton Head with wall to wall sunshine - the temperature made just under 70F. Our apartment is comfortable albeit we have ide...
