Wednesday's report.
Yesterday we attended a timeshare briefing to take advantage of free/discounted golf offers. At the presentation we were offered a very good deal with unlimited free golf and outstanding accommodation in perpetuity - we agreed to sign up for it as there was a 5-day grace period to change your mind (I would not recommend doing this).
We then had the opportunity in the evening to go through the small print in peace and the offer did not stack up (what a surprise) - as part of the sign up procedure we were invited to a free breakfast gathering this morning which we attended. There we sought clarification of how the offer would work as the briefing did not stack up with the paperwork. Needless to say the organisers were very apologetic and admitted that the 'manager' of our host had 'misunderstood' our questions and that the advice he had given was wrong. They then revised their offer with more goodies to come but involving paying twice as much as the original. Needless to say we will be formally withdrawing from the scheme tomorrow! We will, however, enjoy 2 rounds of free golf at Shipyard (up to a $100+ a round per person) and significantly discounted golf at other Hilton Head venues. I would not recommend following this path as you have to be very disciplined not to end up with a timeshare that would not work for you!
Turning to today. We were booked to play at the 'Old South' course in Bluffton adjacent to Hilton Head Island which was a new golf course for us. The course has great write ups and winds its way though swampland adjacent to the Atlantic Inter-Island Waterway between Hilton Head and Bluffton. The weather forecast indicated the likelihood of some showers in the afternoon - in the event it started raining after about hole 4 and
continued for the rest of the round! We were buddied up with Barry and Marge from Ontario who were good company but keen to putt out on each hole. Needless to say the rain seriously affected our scores and after a very solid start Liz struggled on the back 9. 'Weasley' Ben kept his nerve and managed to sneak a narrow win! The course was very quirky and we agreed that it would be good to play it again in the dry!
We ate out tonight in a fish restaurant a 10 minute walk from our condo - it was quite expensive but worth the visit. We enjoyed the ginger 'shrimps' (very large prawns to us), trigger fish, and scallops, washed down with a bottle of Malbec. Like ' Darby and Joan' we then managed to find our way back to our condo

| Sadly Liz ended up in the 'swamp' in front of the green! |
| Liz cleared the water with this drive - Marge in the background |
